Haroldo Jacobovicz and the Power of Information Technology

Haroldo Jacobovicz has a passion for making things better through the use of technology. Leveraging his background in Civil Engineering has allowed him to create innovative solutions which have benefitted many people in his home country of Brazil.

As a serial entrepreneur, Haroldo Jacobovicz started his career in the 1980s as a civil engineer, but he quickly pivoted to the Information Technology sector by providing software and hardware services. His engineering skills prepared him to find innovative solutions for technological problems. In 2010, Jacobovicz founded Horizon Telecom. The company has grown to be one of the most respected telecommunications suppliers in Brazil.

Haroldo Jacobovicz’s entrepreneurial drive and innovative thinking were evident even early in his life. Along with a few friends, he launched his first company while still a college student. The vision of this first company was to help small businesses automate inventory and cash management systems. The company only lasted one year, but the failure did nothing to diminish Jacobovicz’s drive. In fact, Jacobovicz learned many important lessons which would help him in the future.

Horizon Telecom provides many services in Brazil. In addition to telephony services, Horizon Telecom has data centers in which business customers can rent space. Horizon has also moved into the next generation of data centers by launching a public cloud service. A public cloud provides much more flexibility to both small and large businesses than the traditional data center models do.

Haroldo Jacobovicz believes strongly in both education and daily habits. The advice he would give to students or new entrepreneurs is to concentrate more on education than on earning money. He said that this is the same advice he would give to his younger self. He currently commits himself to self-improvement by getting up early every day for physical exercise and reading.
