 Marwan Kheireddine Looks to Young Entrepreneurs as Lebanon's Economic Future

Marwan Kheireddine is known as a serial entrepreneur. The Lebanese businessman earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Economics from Richmond University, United Kingdom, and an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia University, New York. He started many small to mid-size companies. His companies include the Virgin Megastores franchise with retail operations in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. He is the Chairman and General Manager of AL-MAWARID Bank, S.A.L. (AM Bank). Kheireddine has been with AM Bank since 1992 in several capacities. Marwan Kheireddine is involved in all general and strategic operations for the bank and has a particular focus on asset risk management. In addition, he sits on the boards for the companies under the bank’s leadership to create strategic alliances.

Mr. Kheireddine has also had a distinguished political career. From 2011 to 2014, he served a tenure as Minister of State for the Lebanese government. He was involved in various economic and fiscal initiatives and worked on several committees seeking to improve the Lebanese economy. Most notably, he was a driving force in passing a new regulation that allowed banks to invest in technology startups, venture capital, and business incubators. The regulation is commonly referred to as Circular 331. Under Kheireddine’s leadership, AM Bank became the first bank in Lebanon to invest in a business startup under Circular 331.

Marwan Kheireddine sees Lebanon’s economic future in the growth and development of its young entrepreneurs. He is a founding member of the Young President’s Organization (Y.P.O.) Lebanon Chapter and Young Arab Leaders. He serves on an advisory board for the American University of Beirut and the Board of Trustees for the American Community School of Lebanon.
